TEMPLE, Texas (KXXV) — “I love helping people, and I think God wants you to come and help your neighbor,” said Megan, one of the local helpers.
Troy United Methodist Church has partnered with the United Mission Army to help Central Texas neighbors clean up yards and remove weeds from roadside areas following two tornadoes in May.
The home they were working on Monday was Gail Pyle’s.
“Oh man, I’m super excited, to be honest with you,” Pyle said.
The missionary group also plans to build a porch for her.
“I’d like to renovate the porch and provide better access to the garage from her driveway. I think it’s starting to get a little uneven,” Supervisor Mason said.
The children, with the help of their supervisors, have been cleaning since early Monday morning.
“It definitely builds skills,” said Kate, another helper.
But the mission is not over and the needs of the community remain.
