Continuing their transfer activity with a view to building their squad for the 2024/25 season, the Galatasaray Men’s Basketball team has signed Nigerian long forward Ebuka Izundu on a 1+1 year contract. We welcome the 208cm tall new transfer, who averaged 9.1 points and 5.6 rebounds in the German league last season with Ewe Basket Oldenburg, to the Galatasaray family and wish him a successful year in our yellow and red jersey.
Who is Ebuka Izundu?
He was born on June 28, 1996 in Lagos, Nigeria. He grew up playing soccer until his early teens. At the age of 16, while studying at Victory Christian Center School in North Carolina, he discovered basketball because of his athletic build. During his high school years, he was interested in basketball as well as soccer and track and field. In 2014, he played for the Charlotte 49ers men’s basketball team in the NCAA Division I before deciding to continue his education and NCAA career at the University of Miami.
The recruit, who played four seasons from 2015 for the University of Miami basketball team, the Miami Hurricanes, participated in the NBA Summer League in the summer of 2019 wearing a Golden State Warriors jersey. In the Summer League Finals, he recorded 14 points and 11 rebounds, but the team lost 88-87 to the Los Angeles Lakers.
He signed a two-year contract with Real Betis in Spain after the NBA Summer League. At the end of his first year there, he moved to the SIG Strasbourg team in the French league for the 2020/21 season. In January 2021, midway through this season, he moved to Serbia wearing the KK FMP Belgrade jersey. He played for the KK FMP Belgrade team in the ABA league for a total of two and a half years in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons.
After a good season with the Serbian team, he moved to Ewe Basket Oldenburg, a team in the German league and the Basketball Champions League, at the beginning of last season. During the season, he played in 34 Bundesliga games and 8 BCL games. In an Oldenburg uniform, he had his best performance of the season with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 30 efficient points against MHP Riesen-Ludwigsburg, a rival in the BCL TOP16 group last season.
