Thomason said the time was right to open a store in Dayton because the community has always been supportive.
Mz Jade’s Soul Food serves Southern-inspired cuisine using recipes passed down directly from Thomason’s grandmother.

News Center 7 first reported on the venture after Thomason paid for Donovan Elementary School students’ lunches so they could take part in “Ice Cream Fridays.”
As News Center 7 previously reported, the school district posted on social media that students with outstanding lunch debts would not be able to attend the ice cream event.
Thomason did what she thought was right, and the community showed their appreciation by dining at her restaurant.
“Now I have two more communities to support,” Thomason said. “I love Dayton and Dayton loves me. I always say they are my biggest supporters.”
Thomason said he was looking to expand and saw the perfect opportunity in Dayton.
She plans to open another location in Cincinnati.
