Our Fenerbahce Beko men’s basketball team has reached a 2+1-year contract with guard Wade Baldwin IV (1996, 1.93), who last played for Maccabi Tel Aviv and finished second in the EuroLeague’s top five in the past two seasons.
Who is Wade Baldwin IV?
Born in New Jersey on March 29, 1996, the 1.93 cm tall player can play both guard positions.
Wade Baldwin IV began his basketball career at Vanderbilt in the college league. He played for the team from 2014 to 2016 and was selected by the Memphis Grizzlies with the 17th pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.
Baldwin played in the NBA and Development League with the Memphis Grizzlies and Iowa Energy through the 2016-17 season, then spent the 2017-19 season in the NBA and Development League with the Portland Trail Blazers and Texas Legends.
Baldwin, who signed with the Raptors 905 team after the 2019 trade period, decided to start his career in Europe in the summer of 2019. After signing with Olympiacos in 2019, Baldwin had his breakout season in Europe with Bayern Munich in the 2020-21 season.
The American player enjoyed a very successful season with the German team in both the Euroleague and local leagues, averaging 15.2 points, 3.9 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.2 steals in the Euroleague.
The successful guard, who moved to Spain after a successful stint with Bayern, averaged 14.1 points, 4.4 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.1 steals in the 2021-22 EuroLeague season with Baskonia.
Wade Baldwin IV, who joined Maccabi Tel Aviv after leaving Baskonia, recorded 16.7 points, 5.0 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 0.9 steals in the EuroLeague in 2022-23 and 17.7 points, 4.9 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.1 steals in the same field in 2023-24.
Wade Baldwin IV has been named to the EuroLeague’s second-best-five squad for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons.
Baldwin played in 157 games in his EuroLeague career, 135 of which were as a starter. The successful guard averaged 14.4 points, 4.2 assists, 3.0 rebounds, 0.9 steals and 14.4 efficiency points in those competitions.
The United American guard broke the Euroleague scoring record in a game against Red Star on February 9, 2023, scoring 36 points in the game. Baldwin broke the efficiency scoring record by reaching 46 efficiency points in an ASVEL game on March 19, 2024. Playing for Baskonia, Baldwin reached his highest mark in the field with 11 assists in a game against Anadolu Efes on March 8, 2022.
Wade Baldwin IV is a key asset at both guard positions with his aggressive play and athleticism, and he also has extensive EuroLeague experience.
