3 dead, 5 injured
Three people were killed and five were injured, two of them seriously, in the incident. The injured were given first aid by medical teams at the scene and taken to hospital in ambulances.
The identity of the deceased has been revealed
During an investigation at the scene, a number of dead bodies were found. Police said Tamer Kazan, Okan Guner and Veli Hakan Karakas were reported to have lost their lives in the fighting.
Two people were detained
A large-scale investigation into the incident is ongoing by police teams. It has been learned that two people involved in the incident, Fikret O. and operator Canpaşa Y., have been arrested.
Statement from the Governor
The Istanbul Governor issued a statement regarding the armed fighting in the Unarran district.
“On or around October 20, a discussion between two groups at a cafe on Ayazma Street in the Unalan district of Uskudar district escalated into armed clashes. Three people were killed and a total of five were injured in the incident, two of whom were seriously injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment,” the statement said.
