University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros swimming and diving head coach Betsy Graham announced Wednesday the signing of the first two divers in program history, Manu Muhlbeek and Delaney Murphy. The two will join swimmers Madiana Lofgren, Ida Rudelius, Chloe Siegrist and Annalee Staal for the 2024-25 season.
Manu Muhlbeek – Uden, Netherlands – Diving
Muellebeek excelled on the national stage, winning the Dutch Youth Championships 10 times, and was selected for the Dutch national diving team at the age of 17.
Muehlebeek has achieved numerous podiums across Europe, including two Belgian Championships and two bronze medals at the Eindhoven Diving Cup, one of Europe’s biggest diving competitions.
“We are excited to have Manu join the UTRGV family,” said UTRGV diving coach Jennifer Mangum. “Manu is an extremely talented diver and has a great springboard presence. She is looking forward to improving and increasing the difficulty of her dive list and gaining confidence in competition. We think she will quickly become one of the best divers in the conference.”
Delaney Murphy – Huntington Beach, California – Diving
Murphy transfers from UT Permian Basin after spending her first two years with the women’s swimming and diving team under the direction of Coach Graham and Coach Mangum.
The freshman is the program record holder in the 3-meter diving event with 458.39 points and is also an NCAA Division II zone qualifier.
Murphy placed sixth in the three-meter diving and seventh in the one-meter diving at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships.
“Delaney has been a consistent performer in both diving events and is looking to improve even more at UTRGV,” Mangum said. “Delaney is also an outstanding student and is very focused on completing her degree. Delaney will bring great leadership skills to our team and we are excited to have her join us.”
