Turkish Volleyball Federation President Mehmet Akif Ustundagh made the statement ahead of the opening match of the Paris 2024 Olympics between Sultans of the Net and the Netherlands.
He commented to Sports TV about the current situation and member changes of the Sultans of the Nets, who will be aiming for a medal at the 2024 Paris Games.
TVF Chairman Ustundag made a striking statement about the discussions that took place after Ilkhin Aydın joined the team in place of Tugba Şenol Cübegin.

Regarding the discussions following the squad changes, head coach Mehmet Akif Ustunda said, “You know, we had injuries while coming here. For the first time, we came here with more than enough personnel in the team. We knew that one person would be injured,” he said. “We are minding our own business. We accept criticism. There may be criticism, but I don’t ask why someone criticises my kids and my team who have been fighting for months and years to live in the moment and make the country happy, but if they insult me, we will disagree. We will only focus on the match here and play in the tournament,” he said.
“The technical staff will decide.”
TVF President Ustunder emphasized that the team selection is decided by the technical team, saying, “The technical staff decides which players will leave and which players will come in. There is no need to explain this. Meanwhile, we considered 12 players. “In the first system introduced this year, +1. The conditions presented to us can be considered for each match. We have a coach who is only interested in the Turkish national team. It was clear that 14 people would do it when we came here. “One will drop out if we come, but such changes can happen in any country. “For some reason, we came here for the Olympics. I don’t really understand why this team is under such attack. Please forgive this team. “Because we are coming here for the Olympics. ” he said.
“We will not allow these.”
Ustundagh said there is no such thing as lobbying, saying, “Where we are, there can be no lobbying, no cutting corners, no this, no that. We don’t tolerate these. Our flag is one, our country is one and this country is. We aim to reflect the best results on the field. Well,” he said.
Coach Mehmet Akif Ustundagh does not want to risk Zehra Gunes for another game, saying: “Coach Daniele Santarelli wants to put Zehra Gunes at +1 and keep Beyza Artuc inside without taking any risks for another game.”
