As borders open, more tourists will come to Singapore.
And with more tourists comes more opinions about our country, whether we like it or not.
Recently, a TikTok user who visited Singapore expressed several criticisms about the city, including that locals are “rude” and everything is “expensive.”
Here is her review of Singapore.
TikTok user calls Singapore locals “rude”
Earlier this week, a TikTok user with the nickname @gracietravels posted a short video about her trip to Singapore.

Her account goes by the name “Grace” and she calls herself a “travel creator.”
In the video, the TikTok user shares her thoughts and reviews about Singapore, and some of her comments are not very favorable for our small island.
From the start, this TikTok user said Singapore was ” [her] “Favorites list”
One of her reasons is that locals are “rude” – in a video the TikTok user shares of her encounter with a taxi driver, with the baggage claim belt at Changi Airport in the background.

She said that when she got in the taxi, the driver didn’t smile and she had to load her luggage into the cab herself.
And there doesn’t appear to have been any small talk during the trip, other than a discussion about how much money TikTok users were making.
TikTok users also describe everything in Singapore as expensive
The TikTok user also commented that everything is “expensive” in Singapore.
Interestingly, the TikTok user posted these comments with a Marina Bay Sands (MBS) hotel room as the background of the video.
According to the video, the MBS Room was a “big buck” for the TikTok user. She also said she doesn’t think the luxury hotel’s hefty price tag is worth it and doesn’t understand why people are so “obsessed” with the hotel and its infinity pool.
In addition to complaining about Singapore’s high cost of living, the TikTok user also said that he “struggled to find a restaurant that served a decent meal without being too expensive.”
She “has had to turn to hawker centres” to remedy her dire situation.
TikTok users consider Singapore the Las Vegas of Asia
Finally, TikTok users said Singapore’s entertainment scene is “contrived” and “artificial.”

She likened Singapore to Las Vegas and said she didn’t like the country’s lack of “natural substances”.
However, she did compliment our gardens and included some great photos of the domes at Gardens by the Bay.
The video has since been viewed more than 466,000 times, making it one of the most viewed videos on the TikTok user’s account.
