In the 38th and final week of the Trendior Super League, Fatih Karagümrük defeated Samspor 3-1 at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium. Fatih Karagümrük manager Tornai Kavkas gave this assessment in a press conference held after the match. “This match was special for me,” Samsanspor coach Markus Gisdol said at the post-match press conference. “It will be my last match with Samsanspor. Before the match, we decided to play players who have not played much in recent weeks. We had problems defensively. Injured players like Satka and Alim were not with us. It’s always like this in football. All the footballers who played gave their all. The most important thing was that we aimed to get a point from here and we managed to achieve our biggest goal last week. I want to thank the players. They suffered for many weeks. There were times during training when we tried too hard. “We worked hard to get to where we are today and in the end we succeeded,” he said.

Gisdol, who announced his departure from Samspor last week, thanked reporters and said: “I don’t know exactly what will happen in the next few days. I had no contact with any clubs. There was a promise I always made with the president. While I was here I was fully focused on Samspor. I will decide after I go on vacation. My time here has been very special. I am really happy to work in this country and in the Super League. It is a country with intense emotions. “It was a very good experience for me,” he said.
Following Gisdol’s remarks, a statue of Ataturk was presented to him by the Samsung Journalists Association on May 19th.
