Traveling to your favorite city is always fun, but it’s important to do some research beforehand so you can be as prepared as possible. With this in mind, Cody Candee, CEO and founder of Bounce, offers his top tips for travelers visiting Seattle.
1) Seattle Coffee Culture
Seattle is the birthplace of Starbucks and has a rich coffee culture. There are 35 coffee shops per 100,000 residents, and locals spend an average of $36 on coffee each month. Enjoy exploring local coffee shops and roasteries to get a taste of Seattle’s artisanal coffee scene.
2) Whale watching
Whale watching season in Seattle typically runs from April to October, but can occur year-round, when several species of whales migrate through the waters of Puget Sound and the nearby Pacific Ocean, including orcas, humpback whales, gray whales, minke whales, and occasionally blue whales.
3) Plan an itinerary that covers all the tourist spots
Seattle is a beautiful city with plenty to see and do, so it’s important to plan where you want to go so you don’t miss out. Some of the most popular attractions include the iconic Space Needle (up to $37.50 depending on age and time of purchase) and the Seattle Art Museum ($29.99 if purchased in advance, $32.99 if purchased on the day).
4) Enjoy outdoor activities
Seattle is surrounded by nature: go hiking in Discovery Park, take a boat tour on Lake Union or take a ferry to Bainbridge Island for beautiful views of the city.
5) Use your ORCA card for travel
To get around the city, use Seattle’s public transportation system, including buses and light rail. Get an ORCA card for just $3 plus credits to easily access public transportation.
