REEVEVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) – A new effort is underway to bring a community food pantry and teaching farm to Reevesville.
Led by the Youngpreneur Academy, the project aims to teach local children essential life and business skills.
Currently, the 30-acre site is filled with trees and grass, but organizers envision a future food pantry that would provide food for local residents.
Youngpreneur Academy is raising funds and clearing land to build a farm and food pantry.
The St. George organization will provide a local delivery service to area residents.
Shakori Edwards, founder of Youngpreneur Academy, wants to provide even more resources to the community.
“We still don’t have these resources. It’s the same as it was 20 years ago,” Edwards said. “I’ve been gone for 10 years and they still don’t have the resources. So I want to do this here, because they need the resources here.”
The project’s goal is to teach local children important skills such as communication, business development and management.
The organization’s curriculum includes hands-on experience in marketing, technology, app and website development, and more, preparing young entrepreneurs for the future.
Organizers are seeking community support and partnership to ensure the project’s success. To learn more about these initiatives, visit the Youngpreneur Academy website.
