GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Score Restaurant and Sports Bar has a huge menu with something for everyone, including wings, burgers and barbecue.
Located at 5301 Northland Dr. NE, this popular spot also serves handcrafted cocktails and more than 100 beers on tap.
“One of the things we pride ourselves on in our kitchen is that we make food fresh from scratch,” says The Score’s marketing manager Ashley Toh, “so we have a prep team that comes in every morning and gets everything ready for the evening.”
The menu changes every spring/summer and fall/winter and has a little bit of everything, she said.
Towe said the warm weather has made cold appetizers more popular. She said the most popular dish is the ceviche, which sells for $13.99 and is served with chopped Gulf Coast shrimp, red onion, tomato, cucumber, avocado, fresh jalapeño, cilantro, lemon and lime juice, and fresh tortilla chips.
She said the wings are always a hit, especially the smoked wings – six smoked in-house with steak fries, Southern coleslaw and a house-made cornbread muffin for $13.99. The smoked barbecue is also a big hit, with a variety of options ranging in price from $13.99 to $29.99.
Owned by Joe Locke, Score opened in 2007 and has become popular because it offers more than just food and drinks. Tu said Score originally started as a typical sports bar with more than 70 TVs to watch games, but had a desire to become a place where people could hang out.
Outside the venue, there’s a sandy beach with plenty of space to play volleyball on three courts, an outdoor stage with daily live music, and volleyball leagues, tournaments, and private lessons.
“We wanted it to feel like a holiday, even though it’s not,” Towe said.
The Score is open Monday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to late night. Contact The Score by calling 616-301-0600 or visit their website here and on Facebook
