The History at Home event at Sycamore Shoals Park will include tours of the Carter House and Sabine Hill.

Sycamore Shoals State Historic Site has several events planned for early July.
These include guided tours of the historic Carter Mansion on Broad Street and Sabine Hill on West G Street.
The Carter House is the oldest frame home in Tennessee and was built by the Carter family between 1775 and 1780.
Tours will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday, July 2-3, 5-6 and 16-20, and at 1 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, July 9-13 and 23-27. Cost is $10 for seniors 65 and older, $8 for veterans and active military, and $5 for children 7 and under.
Sabine Hill is a mansion built by Mary Patton Taylor, widow of Brigadier General Nathaniel Taylor. It is considered one of the finest examples of Federal architecture in Tennessee. Tours allow you to admire the colorful and architecturally exquisite interiors while learning about the influential Taylor family, who called Sabine Hill home in the early 19th century.
Access to Sabine Hill and Carter Mansion includes stairs and interior staircases.
The price is the same as the Carter Mansion tour.
– Tunes of the Time will be held on Saturday, July 6 at 2 pm and Monday, July 8 at 2 pm. Admission is $6. Life on the 18th century frontier was tough and unpredictable. Join our museum curator Chad Bogart for a glimpse into the musical traditions of the colonial frontier at The Gathering Place in the park’s Visitor Center. Learn how music was a part of everyday life for colonial Americans and how the melting pot of early America influenced the songs and tunes we still enjoy today.
– Frontier Walk, Saturday, July 6 and Monday, July 15, 10 a.m. Cost is $6, children 6 and under are free. Join Museum Curator Chad Bogart for a guided walk through parts of the Sycamore Shoals grounds and walking trails. Learn about the historical events that took place in Sycamore Shoals and their impact on shaping our state and country. Dress appropriately for the weather as this is an easy stroll through the walking trails and park grounds. Portions of the walking trails may include uneven or firm grounds for those with mobility challenges. Meet at the picnic area adjacent to the Visitor Center for approximately 90 minutes of the program.
