A Dallas, Texas-based flight attendant is sharing her favorite travel tips as summer travel approaches for Americans across the country.
Bernice Padilla, 29, said she has worked in the industry for six years and traveled to 44 countries.
Over the years, she has been collecting and creating unique travel insights to make getting to and from your holidays that much easier.

“May and September are great months to travel as they are around the peak of summer in the US,” she said, SWNS reported.
The globetrotter, who also runs the social media bucket list travel account, said he strongly recommends booking trips in “off season” months such as May or September, as travel demand is lower around the peak summer period.

During periods of stable weather, it tends to be less crowded and more affordable.
“Every country has a certain off-season,” she says, “so it’s a good idea to do a bit of research before booking.”
To best avoid delays, Padilla recommends booking the first flight of the day to maximize your chances of departing on time, as noted in the SWNS report.

“Any delay will cause a domino effect,” she said.
“For example, if there’s a delay in California due to weather, my flight can’t take off until that flight takes off.”

This trickle-down effect could negatively impact afternoon and evening flights, but early morning flights are less likely to be delayed for that reason, Padilla said.
If travelers are thinking about going to Europe or beyond, Padilla recommends looking for less popular international locations.

“Everyone loves to go to London, Rome, Paris and Barcelona. [but] “I think there are a lot of great places out there that people are overlooking,” she said.
Padilla plans to go to Argentina and recommends it as a place with fewer tourists, SWNS reported.

As for packing tips, Padilla recommended using packing cubes if your household has too much stuff.
“I still have issues with overpacking, but I try not to pack too much,” she said.

Cabin attendants also recommended passengers only bring carry-on luggage during the summer months for easier travel.
Padilla said she always brings basic necessities that seem obvious but shouldn’t be forgotten: a reusable water bottle, a sweater or blanket, a pen to fill out any necessary paperwork, noise-canceling headphones and a portable charger.
