Irvine police arrested a man on Wednesday after he allegedly broke into homes and apartments while posing as a delivery driver.
Investigators say 37-year-old Marcus Allen Corner would often carry grocery bags and disguise himself before breaking into multiple homes and stealing tens of thousands of dollars worth of valuables. Irvine Police Department detectives are investigating whether he may be responsible for other thefts in Southern California.

Conner, a Monrovia resident, was booked into the Orange County Jail on multiple theft charges with bail increases.
An Irvine man, who asked to remain anonymous, shared video captured by a Ring camera that shows the suspect peering out the door of his apartment after he allegedly broke a window to gain entry. Minutes later, the victim and suspect passed each other in a hallway on Avenue 1 off Jamboree Road. The man said he thought the man carrying the brown bag was a food delivery man.
“I was so scared. I was really shaken up. I’d never experienced anything like this before,” the man said. “I think his pattern of behavior was he had a brown bag in one hand and a cell phone in the other, just looking like a resident or a food delivery guy.”
One of the final victims found her home ransacked and her engagement ring, wedding ring and birthday present stolen.
Police alleged in April that security cameras captured Corner again carrying a bag and searching under a doormat for keys to enter an Irvine home.
“The use of the delivery man guise was certainly an unusual circumstance,” Metropolitan police spokesman Kyle Olderup said. “It allowed him to knock on doors and look around on his phone as if he was lost, so it definitely helped him blend in with the area.”
