Two North Texas college districts have launched their annual “summer lunch” programs to ensure students have food over the summer.
The Dallas Independent School District is one of several school districts that provide breakfast and lunch to students, as well as everyone under the age of 18 and students with disabilities up to age 21, through a Summer Meal Partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Texas Department of Agriculture.
“Hunger is unstoppable, so we are proud to provide meals, free breakfasts and free lunches to everyone under the age of 18 throughout the month of August,” said Dallas Independent School District Executive Director Debbie Rowley.

The Fort Worth Independent School District also provides free breakfast and lunch to children 18 and under.
Meals will be provided Monday through Thursday and the program will run until July 2, 2024.
Students do not need to be enrolled in a summer program to receive the free meals.
