AFAD, the Forestry Management Directorate, fire brigades and 112 emergency health teams from Diyarbakir and Mardin were dispatched to intervene in the fire.
Following the team’s intervention, the fire was brought under control.

3 killed, 11 injured in Yalbakir
Diyarbakir provincial governor Ali Ihsan Su said the fire was caused by stubble and issued the following statement:
“The fire which broke out as stumbling and covering fire in Koksaran area of rural Chinar district of our city has been brought under control with the intervention of our teams and cooling efforts are on.
Sadly, three of our citizens died in the fire, and 11 injured citizens are still being treated in hospital. “We pray for God’s mercy on our deceased citizens and a speedy recovery for those injured.”

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared an update on the fire on his social media accounts.

Minister Yerikaya included the following statement in his post:
“The fire started at 22:15 in the Koksaran Rural District of Diyarbakir Province’s Çinar District as a stump and cover fire, and with the strength of the wind it affected the Yazıçi, Bagluk and Açasever districts, and advanced towards the Yucebah, Şenyuva and Yetkinlar districts of Mardin Majdag. Unfortunately, three people lost their lives in the fire in Diyarbakir and one in Mardin, but our teams and residents were busy. In Diyarbakir, treatment of injured citizens continues, and we pray for God’s mercy and a speedy recovery for the injured.”

Statement by Minister KOCA
Health Minister Fahrettin Koca also released the following statement about the fire on his social media accounts:
“Five people lost their lives and 44 others were affected by the fire, 10 of whom were seriously injured, in the fire that broke out in Koksaran district and Yazici village in Çınar district of Diyarbakir, and in Yüzheva and Yetkinlar villages in Majdag district of Mardin. We lost three lives. Two ambulances and seven UMKE teams from Diyarbakir and Mardin were assigned to the incident, and we pray for God’s mercy for those who lost their lives and offer our condolences to the injured,” he said.

An investigation has been launched
Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunci said in a statement on his social media accounts that a judicial investigation had been launched by Prosecutor General Çınar into the fire.

The fire cooling operation continued into the morning. The team’s work to cool the large area was completed.

Meanwhile, fire-hit areas were monitored by drones.

The video showed helicopters taking part in the cooling operation bringing water from Göksdam to fire-hit areas, as well as to fire-hit areas in Diyarbakir and Mardin.

One of the injured could not be saved.
One of the injured, Remci Yilmaz, could not be saved despite all efforts by doctors at the Mardin Training and Research Hospital where he was treated. Treatment of the other injured was reported to be continuing at the hospital.
