AFAD, the Forestry Management Directorate, fire brigades and 112 emergency health teams from Diyarbakir and Mardin were dispatched to intervene in the fire.
Following the team’s intervention, the fire was brought under control.

12 lives lost
Health Minister Fahrettin Koca reported that the number of people who lost their lives in the stubble fire between Diyarbakir and Mardin had risen to 12.

Three patients undergo tests in Yalbakari
In a statement on his social media accounts, Koca said 78 people were affected by the fires, which broke out in nearby villages and neighbourhoods in Diyarbakir and Mardin provinces.
While praying for God’s mercy on those who lost their lives and for a speedy recovery for the injured, Koca said, “We continue to treat and monitor the five patients. Three of our patients, five of whom were treated in Diyarbakir, are now recovering. They have been intubated,” he said.

An investigation has been launched
Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunci said in a statement on his social media accounts that a judicial investigation had been launched by Prosecutor General Çınar into the fire.

Meanwhile, fire-hit areas were monitored by drones.

The video showed helicopters taking part in the cooling operation bringing water from Göksdam to fire-hit areas, as well as to fire-hit areas in Diyarbakir and Mardin.

One of the injured could not be saved.
One of the injured, Remci Yilmaz, could not be saved despite all efforts by doctors at the Mardin Training and Research Hospital where he was treated. Treatment of the other injured was reported to be continuing at the hospital.
