Simone Biles was already considered the GOAT of gymnastics by many, but she also currently holds the record for the most medals won by an American gymnast in Olympic history.
Biles won the gold medal in the women’s gymnastics team final on July 30 along with teammates Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey and Hezly Rivera.
The win gave Biles her eighth medal, tying her with “The Magnificent Seven” star Shannon Miller.

Biles was last to perform the floor routine, which began with an instrumental version of Taylor Swift’s “Ready For It?”, the theme song for the U.S. team throughout the Paris Games. She earned 14.666 points, cementing her place atop the podium for the U.S. team.

It was an exciting moment for Biles, who struggled with twisties at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, which occur when a gymnast becomes unsure of where she is in the air or how she’s going to land. Biles described it as “getting lost in the air.”
Biles still has several individual events coming up at the Paris Games, starting with the all-around on Thursday, Aug. 1, before competing on floor, vault and balance beam.
