WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — The city of Seymour is celebrating its long ranching history as part of a Seymour beautification project.
Shortly after Seymour’s rodeo parade, people flocked to what was once a gas station where ranchers would put their brands on the buildings. Brands from all over Baylor County are now displayed on large wooden frames and can be seen throughout the city of Seymour.

The building, which was renovated for the event, features a “Home on the Range” plaque, symbolizing the city’s bull running history. Lynelle Scott, vice president of the Seymour Beautification Project, said the success of Saturday’s plaque unveiling is a win for the city of Seymour.
“We were so happy when we sold out of all 80 brands. They sold like hotcakes,” Scott said. “It’s really this history that we’re preserving now, so people can look up these brands and find out exactly what their history is. Every single person is turning it in, and it’s an exciting story for us.”
The branding is just the latest event in the Seymour beautification project, Scott said, as the committee plans to renovate several other historic buildings and other locations to preserve the history of Seymour and Baylor County.
