Turkish Football Federation (TFF) presidential candidate Servet Yardimci’s withdrawal from the running caused a stir.
Recently, Odatv announced to its readers that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has decided to support another candidate, TFF President Mehmet Buyekis.
This situation has led to private comments that TFF presidential candidate Serveit Yardimci may have been pressured to withdraw his candidacy from the Social Complex.
“Our formal bid application has been accepted by the Turkish Football Federation. Congratulations to Turkish football,” Serve Yardimci said in a statement yesterday.
In the end, two candidates remained in the TFF elections: Mehmet Buyukkeci and Ibrahim Haciosmanoglu.
After the debate, attention shifted to Ibrahim Hacismanoglu, whose candidacy was first announced by Turkish media outlet Odatv.
Former Trabzonspor President Hacismanoglu released a short statement to Odatv but did not answer questions about Servet Yardimci.
“I don’t want to get involved in controversy,” he said in response to a question about which candidate President Recep Tayyip Erdogan supports.
Ibrahim Hacimanoglu said Anatolian clubs were very supportive of him, adding: “We have collected more than 100 signatures so far, but this could grow to 200.”
