The Seattle Mariners defeated the Chicago White Sox on Sunday, marking their first consecutive wins since their game against the Texas Rangers from June 14-16.
The Mariners displayed multifaceted dominance throughout the series, with two of their three pitchers producing quality starts and their offense averaging more than seven runs per game.
Seattle catcher Cal Lowry made his own history on Sunday. He hit his second home run in the same game and his 22nd overall this season. He leads major league catchers in home runs and is the only player to have homered at least 10 times in both appearances with and without the plate.

Lowry is arguably Seattle’s Player of the Month for July, he’s already synonymous with a number of key franchise moments and will continue to etch his name in Mariners history.
According to Seattle’s director of baseball communications, Alex Meyer, Lowry becomes one of a handful of players in team history to accomplish a very rare (and very special) feat.
Lawrie’s home run on Sunday made him just the fourth player in Mariners history to homer in back-to-back games with the same score. Seattle beat Chicago, 6-3, on Saturday and Sunday.

The other three players, Meyer said, were Mitch Haniger (May 14-15, 2021), Raul Ibañez (April 19-20, 2004) and Tino Martinez (July 17-18, 1995).
Haniger’s homer came in a game that ended with a 7-3 score, Ibáñez’s in a game that ended with a 2-1 score and Martinez’s in a game that ended with a 10-6 score.
This adds to a long list of honors Lawrie has achieved in his career: He holds the record for most home runs in a season by a Seattle catcher with 30, and in 2022 he could hit a game-winning homer to lead the Mariners to the postseason, ending a 21-year drought and moving 14 away from tying Mike Zunino for the most home runs by a catcher in franchise history.
Lowry has been one of the most important players in the Seattle organization since making his major league debut in 2021 and continues to prove it.
