Revenue Agency warns citizens about “overseas travel fees”
The announcement said that like other tax laws, the foreign exit fee is constantly subject to assessment in terms of effectiveness and efficiency, adding: “As is well known, this fee is collected in a lump sum upon each departure. For citizens of the Republic of Turkey travelling abroad, the foreign exit fee will come into effect on the date of departure” and “must be paid based on the amount as known.”
The statement said, “Therefore, if you buy a fare stamp today or pay your fare in any other way because of the news, it does not mean that you will not receive the valid amount on the day of departure. It is important for the public to follow the President’s statements in order not to fall victim to such speculative news.”
