BREAKING! President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke at the Turkiye Spain Business Forum in Madrid, the capital of Spain.
President Erdogan said he wanted to further develop economic and trade relations between the two countries.
President Erdogan did not forget the Israeli attack on Gaza that lasted nearly 200 days and thanked Spain for its attitude.
“It is impossible for any conscientious country to accept such a situation,” Erdogan said. “I commend Spain for its stance, which has pursued a truly principled and consistent policy since day one, which has earned it a special place in the hearts of both the Spanish people, our Palestinian brothers and Turkey.”
“We hope to see further development.”
President Erdogan’s remarks are as follows:
Our unity and cooperation in the face of current challenges is crucial, and we want to further develop our economic and commercial relations with Spain.
Our country’s trade volume, which was around $2 billion before 2002, reached $19.2 billion last year, thus almost reaching the $20 billion target. We believe that this volume can go even further. As a result of this approach, Spain is the sixth country with the most investments in Turkey, with 740 companies and shares worth around $11 billion.
Removing the perception of competition in trade and investment and establishing innovative and strategic partnerships should be one of the business norms in the coming new era. This approach will go a long way in establishing lasting and strong collaboration. We need to provide opportunities for cross-sectoral efforts and new partnerships. This is how we will take the country into the future.
When you invest and work, we are always there for you. We will further strengthen the foundations of cooperation with the agreement signed today.
Israeli attack on Gaza
The massacres in Gaza and the Occupied Palestinian Territories are enough to make anyone with a conscience bleed. More than 37,000 people were massacred before their eyes in Gaza. 85,000 civilians were injured. Churches, mosques, schools and refugee camps were bombed. Doctors, scholars and innocent civilians were targeted by bullets.
No sensible country could accept such a situation. I want to commend Spain for its stance, which from day one has pursued a truly principled and consistent policy that has earned it a special place in the hearts of both the Spanish people, our Palestinian brothers and Turkey.
Strict visa regulations prevent us from making the most of our economic potential. I would like to thank Spain for its wholehearted support for our country’s EU accession process.
