PM Dervisoğlu’s statement on Erdoğan-Akşener meeting: They did not make any special statement
“There is nothing more natural than a mutual visit between people who have held important positions in state and political life. I think they exchanged views on the fundamental issues facing Turkey. After the visit, the respected Chairman (Akşener) called me.” They made some statements that they were talking about Turkey in general, but otherwise did not make any statements that could be called “specific.”
Dervisoğlu said he was ready to talk with all party leaders if “normalization” could be achieved through mutual visits between them, but he said he would only support normalization once the problems facing Turkey were resolved.
Will Dervişoglu meet with Erdogan?
When asked about the possibility of meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Dervisoğlu said: “At this point, nothing has been communicated to me. I am the newly elected chairman. If the president comes to us and wishes us success, then he will come. At this point, there is no invitation or congratulatory visit from him on my inauguration as chairman.”
Claims that “Akşena will be given the vice presidency”
Derbişoğlu said he had no reaction to Erdoğan’s meeting with Akşener, saying he has not met him yet, and explained that the visit does not harm Meral Akşener.
When asked about allegations that “Meral Akşener would be given the vice presidency,” Dervisoğlu said he did not think that was possible.
Dervishoor said he had not said anything negative about those who had left the party and said he could not question those to whom he could not find a response within the party.
