The Pigeon Chamber of Commerce has added Food Truck Fridays, which will run in parallel with the Pigeon Farmers Market.
Pigeon Chamber of Commerce President Erica Reif said the trucks bring diversity to the town and are a way to supplement the farm stand.
“We’re planning on having it on a Friday and it will coincide with the farmers market’s regular hours,” Reif said. “We’ve heard requests from the public for more options.”
Jeno’s at 989th Street will kick off on May 17, followed by Coney Guys on May 24. Also scheduled to feature are trucks from Nikki’s Kitchen, Bell Bottom Grill, Mr. Italy and Angry Ginger’s Roadside Grill.
“These events help bring people to the town and market,” Reif said. “They’re the only ones we have planned for now, but more will be added soon. We usually announce the week’s schedule on Facebook the Monday before.”
The food trucks will be open for the season in conjunction with the Farmers Market, and the Pigeon Chamber of Commerce Facebook page has received suggestions from residents for future Friday events.
While food trucks offer a different option for customers and residents, Reif said the chamber takes the needs of the community and surrounding businesses into consideration when implementing food trucks.
“We’ll have them on Friday, just like the market, but we don’t want to be in the shadow of the other businesses in town,” Reif said. “We thought market day was the perfect day to have them.”
