People suffering from baldness or a receding hairline can now ask their grandfathers to pay for their hair transplant. Hair transplant service GetHair says that as part of a new service it will send an invoice directly to a loved one to pay for the transplant. “Research shows that in the end it’s all grandfather’s fault.”
All you need to do is fill out this form or download the invoice and send it directly to your grandpa. GetHair launched the service after research showed that men are 250% more likely to experience hair loss if their grandfather is bald.
The study also found that one in three men with thinning hair believe their baldness is due to genetic inheritance from their grandfathers, despite the common misconception that baldness runs in the mother’s family. A GetHair spokesperson added that the first 30 people to sign up on the website will also be offered accommodation in Istanbul and hotel transfers.
According to the company, male pattern baldness (MPB) is a type of hair loss caused by genetics that often follows a predictable pattern: hair loss in men typically begins at the hairline and gradually recedes to form an “M” shape.
It may also start in a circular area at the back of the head, where the hair thins and thickens over time. Although genetics plays a key role in determining whether or not someone will develop MPB, it is not simply a matter of inheriting a “baldness gene” from their mother.
The key driver of MPB is the X chromosome that men inherit from their mothers. However, there is no single gene responsible for the development of MPB, and these genes can be inherited from both the mother and father.
The number of people affected by male pattern baldness is staggering: scientific studies have shown that 80% of men over the age of 80 experience some form of hair loss. Younger men are no exception, with around 42% of men aged 18-49 suffering from male pattern baldness.
