Forest fires broke out in the Menderes, Selçuk and Cesme districts of Izmir.
The fire in Selçuk spread to the Kusadasi district of Aydın.
Firefighting on all three fires continued into the morning.

Izmir fire under control
Agriculture and Forestry Minister Ibrahim Yumakli announced that the forest fires in Izmir were under control.
Minister Yumakli explained that the Menderes fire started in a hobby garden, while the Çeşme fire was caused by a thrown cigarette butt.
Minister Yumakli reported that the cause of the fire in Selçuk is under investigation and that some of the suspects in connection with the fire have been detained.

“Severe sanctions will be implemented.”
Minister Yumaklu said cooling efforts were continuing in the region and urged the public to be vigilant against forest fires, stating that heavy sanctions would be imposed on those who started them.

The fire that broke out in Selcuk spread to Kusadasi
The fire, which started in a forest area in Pamçak, Selcuk district of Izmir, spread quickly due to strong winds and also spread to the Kusadasi district of Aydın.
The Selçuk-Kusadasi highway was closed to traffic. Firefighting efforts were carried out by 118 vehicles and around 500 personnel from the ground, as well as three night vision helicopters from the air.

At the same time, a fire broke out in the forest area of Menderes-Karakadag. 48 vehicles and 207 personnel worked on the ground and five helicopters to extinguish the fire. TOMA also supported the efforts.

As the fire was progressing, evacuations were carried out as a precaution in the Chamenyu area, including a house built for a hobby garden in a forested area.

Footage taken in the area early this morning showed the fire was largely contained and cooling efforts had begun.

Seven hours of struggle in Canakkale
Meanwhile, a fire that broke out yesterday evening in farmland in the Ezine district of Çanakkale and spread rapidly was put out by teams after seven hours of work.
