St. Vincent de Paul Northern Kentucky (SVdP NKY) has announced the winners of its first Food Fight Against Hunger initiative to help keep pantry shelves stocked during the busy summer months.
Eight participating teams collected nonperishable food, hygiene products, and household items, and the team that collected the most items by weight was declared the winner.
“We recognize the importance of community engagement in addressing the summer hunger crisis, and our participating teams have really stepped up to the plate and helped meet the need,” said St. Vincent. – said Becca Gerding, program director at De Paul Northern Kentucky. “For many people in this region, access to food is not guaranteed, and the need is even greater during the summer months when children are out of school. Our Fight Against Food Hunger competition reveals Together, we can turn hardship into an opportunity to unite in the fight against food insecurity. ”
Payroll Partners won this year’s “Food Fight to End Food Hunger” contest. The company collected more than 277 pounds of canned food, hygiene products, household goods, pet food and diapers to help restock pantry shelves ahead of the busy summer. The contest donated a total of 1,200 pounds of supplies to the organization’s food pantry program.

In 2023 alone, SVdP NKY provided food assistance to more than 30,000 people across Northern Kentucky, totaling more than $978,000 worth of supplies. The organization expects the need for food assistance to increase over the next year.
