SALT LAKE CITY — Former Utah State Aggies and current Packers quarterback Jordan Love signed a four-year, $220 million contract extension Friday to remain in Green Bay.
The deal puts him in a tie for the highest-paid quarterbacks in NFL history.

Love’s absence from the first week of camp was enough for the two sides to reach an agreement that would see the former Aggies earn $55 million annually, matching the salary of Jacksonville’s Trevor Lawrence and Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow.
In his first season as a full-time starter, Love has proven himself to be one of the best players at his position.
He passed for 4,159 yards and 32 touchdowns, plus added 247 yards and four touchdowns on the ground, leading the Packers to a 9-8 record in the regular season.

But there is one big problem with this new deal: pressure.
Love was a pleasant surprise for Green Bay in 2023. The Packers were ranked 22nd in the 2023 NFL preseason power rankings, near the bottom of the league.
Expectations for Love will be higher than ever after a successful season and the completion of his longest contract in history.
About Jordan Love
Prior to entering the league, Love, a Bakersfield, California native, played at USU from 2016 to 2019. During his time with the Aggies, Love passed for 8,600 yards, 60 touchdowns and 29 interceptions while completing 61 percent of his passes.
In 2020, the Packers traded up and selected Love with the 26th overall pick in the NFL Draft.
During his rookie season, the former USU star missed every game for Green Bay.
Love saw limited playing time in his second and third years with the Packers, serving as a backup to four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers. The Packers traded Rodgers to the New York Jets after the 2022 season. The Rodgers trade paved the way for Love to become Green Bay’s No. 1 quarterback in 2023.
