More than 400 families across Orange County received free healthy meal options Saturday as the school year draws to a close. Colonial High School and Oak Ridge High School are providing students and families with access to nutritious meals during the summer break. The giveaway was held at Colonial High School. Lines of cars filled the parking lot as students and volunteers handed out boxes of food. Karina Milaba told WESH 2 that Saturday’s food giveaway was on time. She went to buy food for her relatives. “Inflation and food prices are very high,” Williams said. “We’re running out of money to feed our small families, so hosting events like this helps.” It was all in collaboration with Orange County District 3 Chair Mayra Uribe . Uribe said: Families got free chicken, free vegetables and other canned goods. “For me, this is a silent blessing to be able to act for the community and make a difference,” she said. Uribe said the goal is to provide food resources to families, and the next food drive will be held in July.

“Inflation and food prices are very high,” Williams said. “Events like this are helpful as I now have more money to support my small family.”
It was all in collaboration with Orange County District 3 Commissioner Mayra Uribe. “This will help whether you are in urgent need or just need relief. This is what we are trying to help with,” Uribe said.

“For me, this is a quiet blessing that can make a difference for the community,” Uribe said.
Secretary Uribe said her goal is to provide food resources to families. The next food drive will be held in July.
