LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas Community Advocates announced it is aiming to alleviate food insecurity in the Little Rock area this summer.
This summer, the organization will partner with the North Little Rock Hunger Force to launch the “Pantry to You” project, delivering food to low-income families on the third Sunday of each month.

ACA Director Zachary Carr highlighted the needs facing members of the community.
“We were fully stocked this morning, but the demand is huge in these areas,” ACA President Zachary Carr said, showing off shelves that are restocked weekly.
Carr said he grew up in a less privileged family and uses that experience as motivation.
“As I get older, I understand more and more the issues that there are homeless people on every street corner, people struggling to make ends meet,” Carr said.

The pantry, located in front of Carr’s home, is open every day of the week.
Caitlin Bowman has been a volunteer for three years and said it’s very important to support families heading into the summer.
“We’ve been receiving a lot of produce, fruits and vegetables, and this is what’s left over from a large donation we had this morning,” Bowman said.
She said her daily experience shows her how important it is to have ongoing donations.
“It seems like every week you meet new faces, new people who say, I need this, I don’t know why I’m working so hard and I don’t have money to eat,” Bowman said.
