The AKP also opposed the biggest tax bill in two decades, which the Ministry of Finance is set to present to the Turkish Grand National Assembly after the Eid al-Adha holiday.
The package would rain taxes on everything from real estate to cryptocurrency transactions, corporate taxes to international exit fees.
Former AKP deputy Shamil Tayyar posted on his social media accounts opposing the prepared tax plan.
Tayyar’s post is as follows:
“The new tax system contains very intrusive regulations.
This regulation, presented by economic managers as “tax justice”, almost makes even breathing a taxable event.
It’s like removing a patient’s lungs during heart surgery.
If this tax policy, shaped by economic bureaucrats, is not restructured by Congress, social unrest, fuelled by high living costs and deep poverty, will reach a peak.
Of course, this would entail political complications.
It seems that economic bureaucrats sit at desks, cutting and chopping, buying and selling, bending T-tables, adding and subtracting numbers.
The focus of decision-making is on “statistical” data, not “humanitarian” ones.
If this disrespect stems from the idea that there is still a lot of time until the election, I would warn you that 10 years is not enough time for this trend.
Even if you make the numbers balance, how do you bring back to life a patient you’ve left on the operating table?
The draft civil servant tax bill, which will be placed on the parliamentary agenda after the holidays, will have to go through political hands.
It’s just a little warning, so please put it aside.”

This tax is created by economic bureaucrats…
