When it comes to national team season, all eyes and ears are on the women’s national volleyball team. Having raised the bar at the highest level to become number one in the world thanks to their performance last season, our team continues to prepare for the big tournaments, the Nations League, with a view to a podium finish, and the Olympics this year. Although our precious team is on the field full time and in full swing, they do not feel like guests in the sporting life, creating a full home effect.
The records and the games are ours
It is said that a captain’s maturity is not seen in calm weather, but what he does in difficult situations makes him a captain. The same is true of our team. He was defeated but did not give up. He learns, tries, struggles and wins. As he wins, he breaks record after record. They become role models for everyone in this process of development. They show what systematic perseverance, enduring endurance and sustainable fighting power mean. They prove the difference between those who aspire and those who set goals. Not only the performance of the team but also individual talents shine.
Melisa Vargas is just flying
Vargas has been showing great performance as the team’s “difference maker” since last year and his momentum is unstoppable. After returning from a season-long injury, he not only led his team Fenerbahçe to a cup victory, but also continues to shine for the national team. He breaks the limits of power and explosiveness.
He did a great dunk against the USA in the second leg of the Nations League!!!! 121KM/H!!! After this dunk, which was delivered at 121km/h, I held him by his neck, arms and shoulders. After I hit him, he falls to the ground and gets up again. He glows and dazzles like a phoenix rising from the ashes.
He shows such skill that it amazes him, as if all the qualities that an athlete, a volleyball player should have are collected in him. Simurgh continues to show off his skills in the air.
Thousands of applause for Ebrard
Another star who has made his mark on the history of the Nations League is Ebrard Karakurt! 1160th since 2018!!! His energy and ever-improving performances deserve a place at the top of the record books. Having been away from his comfort zone for years, playing in both the Italian and Russian leagues, his level is improving day by day. It’s not easy to achieve this consistency. Standing out among the stars of the world and becoming a north star suits Ebrard very well.
Towards the 2024 Olympics
We have won 6 out of 8 matches in the Nations League up to Paris 2024. The top 8 out of 16 teams will advance to the finals. It is a special pride to come here with the title of champions, after a hat-trick of silver in 2018, bronze in 2021, gold and podium in 2023, and the last time. We are playing with it every week. Our biggest goal this year is the Olympic podium. We were 9th when we first participated in 2012. We left Tokyo in 5th place. But this year, our story, our confidence, what we have accumulated and our experience will lead us to the podium. The Olympic motto; “Higher, stronger, faster!” We are on such a path. We will be stronger when we overcome the injury. Eda catches up with Tempo. We are waiting for the return of Zera and Handa. This road is long, hard and honorable! We have full faith. May the way be clear! We are very proud.
