Nigerian footballer Anthony Nwakaeme, with whom Trabzonspor club is continuing transfer negotiations, has arrived in Trabzon.
The footballer was greeted with cheers from the claret blue fans as he arrived at Trabzon airport on a private jet from London.
Answering questions from journalists at the airport, Nwakaeme said he was happy to be back.
When asked about the fan reception, Nwakaeme replied: “I haven’t seen it yet but I know what Trabzon is like so I can guess what it’s like outside. I’m very happy and I feel very good.”
When asked about his two-year absence from Trabzonspor, the Nigerian player said: “I know how the fans follow me, it’s really incredible. I receive a lot of messages and comments from my fans on social media. I love receiving messages and comments from my fans. I want to thank each and every one of them for this love and for following me, because they never stopped doing it,” he said.
Nwakaeme also described the transfer process as very easy, saying:
“I can sum it up like this: At the time of the video I uploaded to social media, we hadn’t yet come to an agreement. I thought we would get along well and we knew how much we loved each other, so we agreed,” he said. “We get along well with each other, so I’m very grateful to Mr. Nevzat and the coaches that this transfer happened. Love me.”
When asked what he missed most about Trabzon, Nwakaeme said, “I missed everything so much. The fans in the stadium and their support, the crowds they created and the joy of winning.”
“Onuachu wants to return.”
Nwakaeme was also asked about his thoughts on the transfer of fellow Nigerian compatriot Paul Onuachu, to which he said, “I have spoken to Onuachu and he has expressed that he wants to return. He told me he is very happy and has had a good time here, but I have no information on his current transfer situation,” he said.
Nevzat Kaya, the club’s vice president, said:
“We were brother and sister with Nwakaeme. We always met while I was playing for Trabzonspor. I didn’t stop meeting him even after I left Trabzonspor. I even said in the parliamentary process, ‘If the president wants, I will take Nwakaeme.’ “Thank God, I have brought Nwakaeme here today.”
Anthony Nwukaeme posed for photos with the fans who came to greet him, and posed for a three-way photo at the fans’ request before leaving the airport in his club car.
