In his first public address since his conviction in a New York City show trial, former President Donald Trump reassured his audience that the real verdict in Democrats’ partisan effort to silence, prosecute and jail his biggest political opponent will come on Election Day 2024.
“We are dealing with a corrupt government. Our country is corrupt,” Trump said in a speech at Trump Tower in midtown Manhattan. “Our elections are corrupt, our borders are open. The borders will soon be closed. November 5th will be the most important day in the history of our country.”

A jury drawn from overwhelmingly pro-Biden New Yorkers, with encouragement from Judge Juan Marchan, a Biden donor, and “Defeat Trump” Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, convicted Trump on 34 counts of bookkeeping fraud on Thursday.
Democrats and their allies hailed the verdict as a victory for their years-long campaign to smear the Republican Trump as a convicted felon, but the expected ruling did nothing to deter Trump or his supporters.
Shortly after the Camouflage Court’s decision was made public, former Democrats, independents and new political donors sent record amounts of money to Republican 2024 campaigns. In his speech, Trump urged the influx of voters who financially backed him to keep donating.
“That’s a really big difference,” he said. “There’s a lot of money on the other side. I don’t know where they’re getting it from. Nobody knows where they’re getting it from, but they’re getting it for some reason.”
Trump stressed that despite Democrats’ steady gains, “they are not on the side of our country.”
“I think in a lot of ways they hate our country,” Trump said, referring to the continued border incursions that Democrats have tolerated. “Who wants to have an open border with people coming in from countries they don’t know, places they don’t know, languages they don’t know, languages they’ve never heard?”
The self-described political prisoner said that “a lot” of illegal border crossers coming into our country “are not good people” but are being granted exemptions from residing here by the Biden administration.
“A lot of terrorists, record levels of terrorism, record levels of terrorism have come into our country. Record! They’ve never seen anything like this,” Trump said.
Major media outlets, including the New York Times, were quick to attack the Republican, claiming he had “blabbed” in a “misleading” speech.
But if polls are any indication, Trump’s stance on the Democratic Party’s banana-republic behavior and border incursions is resonating with voters.
BREAKING: New Daily Mail poll shows Trump’s approval rating increased by 6 points after his New York City conviction.
