The Turkish Football Federation has announced that next season’s Zirat Turkish Cup and Super Cup matches will be broadcast by Turkvaz Media Group.
TFF statement
Next season, the Turkish Cup and Super Cup will be broadcast on the Turkvaz Media Group channel. After 13 years of broadcasting the Turkish Cup and Super Cup, Turkvaz Media Group will broadcast both events for the first time in a new format and make them available to football fans without a password, as in previous years.
Broadcasting revenue tripled
As a result of negotiations between Turkish Football Federation President Mehmet Buyukekci, the TFF Board of Directors and Turkvaz Media Group, the contract covering the broadcasting of the Turkish Cup and Super Cup was extended for another year by tripling the broadcasting revenue. After 2.5 times the broadcasting revenue for the Super League and first round, and 3 times the broadcasting revenue for the Turkish Cup and Super Cup, clubs participating in the Turkish Cup and playing Super Cup matches will be able to earn three times the profit in the 2024-2025 season compared to the previous season.
Türkiye Cup to be played in new format
The Turkish Football Federation’s Executive Board has decided to hold the Turkish Cup in a new format in the 2024-2025 season. The new format was formed by a report submitted to the TFF Executive Board following value enhancement work carried out by Hypercube, which prepared the format for the Champions League at the beginning of the season, and will consist of a qualifying round, a group stage, a competition and a final stage.
1) The elimination and final stages will be played using a single-match elimination format. According to the Swiss format, which will also be used in next season’s Champions League, 24 teams will participate in the group stage, divided into four groups of six teams each. The current rule that seeded teams play their qualifiers at home will no longer apply under the new status.
Transitioning to Group Applications
2) New format. The 24 qualifying teams will be split into three bags based on league ranking and winning order. Six teams will form a group with two players from each bag. Each team will play three matches against one team each from pots A, B and C. The top two teams from the team matches will advance to the quarter-finals.
3) Five teams representing our country in next season’s UEFA Cup will participate directly in the group competition. The remaining 19 teams will get the right to join the group after the qualifying rounds.
The Super Cup will also be played in a new format
The 2023-2024 Super Cup will be played between the Super League champion and the Turkish Cup champion. Starting from the next season, the Super Cup will be held in a new format. According to the new format, the Super Cup 2024-2025 season will be held as a Final Four, involving the Super League winner and the Super League runner-up, the Turkish Cup winner and the Turkish Cup finalists.
