Former Uluk Okaklari Chairman Sinan Ateş lost his life in an armed attack in the Cukrambar district of Ankara’s Çankaya district on December 30, 2022. Details emerged from the investigative files on 17 suspects, whose files were separated after the case opened by the Ankara Chief Prosecutor’s Office against 22 suspects in custody in relation to the murder of Sinan Ateş.
It was discovered that one of the suspects, Tulgahan Demirbaş, had five conversations with Mustafa Ensar Aykal via FaceTime on December 29, 2022, the day before the murder, and again on December 30, 2022, for 30 minutes and approximately two hours after the murder occurred.
In his statement, Demirbaş claimed the reason for these meetings was because Uluk Oçaklal deputy chairman Emre Yüksel had purchased a vehicle with “MHP” license plates and a licensed gun.
His statement was made clear
The following is the statement of Turgahan Demirbaş, who testified at the Ankara Chief Prosecutor’s Office:
Tulgahan Demirbaş: I remember meeting with him the day before about two issues. First, my friend with the plate number “MHP” asked me for help in selling his car in order to get the license plate back without wasting it. The second is this. My friend Emre Yuksel and two mutual acquaintances named Ercan, whose last name I can’t remember, are interested in getting a gun license from the Ankara Governorate. Due to the strictness of the police station, I asked him to help me.
Prosecutor: Why did you feel the need to have these conversations over FaceTime?
Törgahan Demirbaş: It is a habit in our community. I usually call my friends and close circle via FaceTime.
Prosecutor: What is noteworthy about the conversation right after the murder? What could you have said to Mustafa Ensar Aykal on the same day? The murder occurred at 1:30 p.m. on the same day. What happened to the murder commander that he was able to make time for you and hold such a meeting after such a rush and intensity? What do you think is so striking and unusual?
Türgahan Demirbaş: Dear Prosecutor, I don’t see anything unusual here. The deceased was the former chairman of Idealist Hearth and I was also a member and servant of the Idealist community, so… on the day of the incident, he called me. I met him once on the day of the incident. I asked him, “Do you know about the incident in Çukulambar?” It took me a maximum of 10 seconds. And I said, “I don’t know, what happened?” I asked. He said, “Okay, see you later, bye.” We closed the business.
While the defendant, Mustafa Ensar Aycar, faces a prison sentence of 15 to 20 years for “aiding and abetting premeditated murder,” Aycar should receive a prison sentence of 3 to 6 years for the crime of misusing and illegally obtaining the victim’s personal information, as required by the authority vested in him by his public office.
