As Okan Burku’s Galatasaray continue their pre-season preparations in their training camp in Austria, Milliyet newspaper journalist Nevzat Dindar gives his assessment of the latest developments from the Reds.
Answering questions from scorer Serkan Ozen during an Instagram Live broadcast, Nevzat Dindar provided the latest on transfer developments and also announced some players to watch in camp.
Nevzat Dindar’s statement is as follows:
The situation with Zaha, Ziyech and Icardi
As far as I can see, it’s a good camp for Galatasaray, but of course it would be better if the transfer could happen in time. Galatasaray needs a number 2 and a number 8. The situation with Zaha, Ziyech and Icardi… Ziyech joined the camp this year. Icardi arrived early, although his personal life was turbulent. There was a bit of a slump, but he overcame that. Overall, Okan Hodja seems very happy. Icardi is healthier than he was before. He looks pretty good.

“We’ll have guys who are ready.”
“If we wanted, we could have completed the second and eighth transfers today,” said head coach Ibrahim Hatipol, but they are still in the evaluation phase. That’s why the Championship takes so long to make the transfer process. They look at the fans’ reactions on social media. The players who move to Galatasaray will be ready to play right away. In this respect, I think Okan Hodja is more comfortable.
Yusuf Yazici’s claim
I asked yesterday if there was a local transfer. Galatasaray does not do local transfers to play in the first 11. They can do it if there is investment and future opportunities. My information is that Galatasaray is not interested in Yusuf Yazic.
“BARIŞ ALPER OUR RED LINE”
Barış Alper was our red line and we were told we would never sell it. This year, Barış Alper has a special place in our plans.
Cone Subject
There are payments that Galatasaray did not make regarding Derrick Corn, but no lawsuits have been filed. We received a debt-free certificate dated June 30th. The important thing was to pay off the debts up to that point. It is not uncommon for debts to be late on July 1st.

“Oliveria could not agree with any of the clubs.”
It turns out that Sergio Oliveira cannot sign with any club. If no agreement is reached by the end of the transfer window, Galatasaray must be aware of the obstacles Oliveira is experiencing with regards to foreigners. Galatasaray will watch until the last day. He will also be looking for a team to play for.
After the transfer of the two and eight players, Galatasaray’s biggest challenge will be what to do about the number of foreign players. There are a lot of foreigners in the team.
“Sparta made an agreement with Prague”
Matthias Roth has signed with Sparta Prague. Galatasaray will release him with an option to buy. Some players have returned from loan, so they will not continue.
The offer that Galatasaray has made for Duet is below $9 million. Various options have also been reported to the management. Aaron Wan-Bissaka seems to have given up on the right-back position. The profile of the young player is under further review. Nothing is finished now.

“Galatasaray doesn’t need privacy”
There is no information about Ilkay Gundogan. Hans Flick was not going to let Ilkay go anyway. He is probably one of the first players to look at. Ilkay is not a player Galatasaray needs. He is a young and dynamic player. Of course he is a special player, but Ilkay is not the main position they are looking for.
“It’s going to leave a mark on the season.”
Ziyech seems very motivated in camp. He has hinted that he will be one of the names to make his mark this season. Again, Zaha is also very focused.
Emin Bayram’s transfer
Emin Bayram is injured and is due to start training. A sale to Westerlo is out of the question at this stage, but negotiations are ongoing. A bid of €4 million plus a percentage of any further sale has been offered, but so far no move seems to have materialised.
