The author, Ashkim Kapşmak, who was detained within the scope of the investigation into the cryptocurrency exchange called “SmartTrade Coin”, has been released. Kapşmak rejected the accusations against him, saying: “I have absolute confidence in the Turkish judiciary. This situation will continue for a long time to come.”
Writer Ashkim Kapşmak was detained in Istanbul as part of the Cybergoz-42 operation, which was organized against individuals committing fraud by promising “high profits with zero risks” through the purchase of so-called crypto assets. A sales platform called “Smart Trade Coin” was launched in 21 provinces based in Ankara.
Habertürk said Kapşmak, who had been detained, had been released under judicial supervision in a statement on his social media accounts.
“Following the detention procedures conducted against me within the scope of Operation Cyber Eye-42, carried out by the Ankara Chief Prosecutor’s Office, I was released today under judicial control.
As I have previously stated in my public statement on May 31, 2024, I have never been involved in any crime or organization in my life and I make a living through my books and motivational speeches.
The reason for the detention in question has been reported in the media and is widely known: it consists of the activities of one of countless companies I had no way of knowing about, a company I attended only once as a motivational speaker many years ago.
With boundless faith in Turkish justice, I would like to thank you once again for your interest and support and extend my greetings with the hope of meeting you as soon as possible.”
In a video shared on Instagram, Kapşmak said he had infinite faith in Turkey’s judiciary. “This situation will continue for a long time to come. I have already psychologically internalized the experiences I have had over the past four days.”
