The Millersburg Food Run is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on Sunday, July 28, along the Holmes County Trail in Millersburg.
The Millersburg Food Run 10k, 5k and 1 mile races were started in 2018 by the Millersburg Seventh-day Adventist Church to serve the needs of Holmes County families. Proceeds from the races benefit the Love Center Food Pantry.
“It’s been exciting to see how much the race has grown since it began,” said Race Director Eva Durbin. “Every year we see more participants and new corporate sponsors, which means we’re able to raise more funds for the Love Center. It’s really only because of the community support that the race has been able to grow to this point.”
Since the race began in 2018, $17,560 has been raised for the Love Center.
The Love Center Food Pantry has been serving the needs of Holmes County since 1986. Approximately 1,000 families utilize the food pantry, which processes more than 660,000 pounds of food annually.

Love Center Food Pantry Director Edgar Reiber noted that the money goes to better use than food donations because the food pantry is able to purchase large quantities of food from the Akron-Canton Food Bank at less than grocery store prices. This Christian effort is supported by businesses and churches throughout Holmes County.
About the Race
There are competitive 5k and 10k courses that are professionally timed, as well as a non-competitive 1 mile course. There is a child rate for the 1 mile race, so the whole family can participate. Everyone is welcome to participate: runners, joggers, walkers, etc.
The race is an out-and-back course on flat, paved roads starting at the Hipp Station Depot, 62 N. Grant St., near downtown Millersburg, and runs through woodlands and farmland along the Holmes County Trail.
A beverage and snack table will be set up for participants after the race, and all participants will receive a medal, gift bag and raffle ticket for a gift basket.
T-shirts will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, and gift basket donations have come from businesses including AutoZone Auto Parts, E&H Ace Hardware, Heini’s Cheese, Long Lane Woodworks and Star Brite Car Wash.
