HERMITAGE, Pa. – The Mercer County Food Bank will host a “Christmas in July” event on July 25 at Vey’s Pub & Grille (3176 E. State St.).
The event, which will run from 6 to 9 p.m., is part of the food bank’s “Sizzlin’ Summer” fundraiser series.
Guests who come dressed in Christmas costumes will have the opportunity to have their photo taken with the Grinch for a donation.
Vey’s Pub & Grille will donate 15 percent of the proceeds from the evening’s dining, plus additional proceeds from the sale of select specialty drinks, to the food bank.
For every dollar donated, the Mercer County Food Bank is able to provide four meals to people in need. So far this year, the food bank has distributed more than 1.5 million pounds of food, more than half of the food it has distributed in 2023, according to a news release.
“Our distributions are on track to be 17 percent higher than this time last year,” said Food Bank Executive Director Rebecca Page. “As food prices remain high, more people are seeking food assistance throughout Mercer County communities. Approximately 12,000 people receive food assistance each month from MCFB and its nearly 40 member agencies.”
