Turkey is one of the world’s largest cigarette consumers and also ranks among the countries that pay the highest taxes on cigarettes.
Finally, following the six-month inflation statistics finalized on July 3, it was decided to increase the prices of all cigarette brands by between 9 and 13 liras due to the increase in the SCT.
6 TL cigarette price discount
The Revenue Authority (GIB) announced that the amount of Special Consumption Tax (SCT) on fuel, tobacco products and alcoholic beverages has been updated in accordance with the national Producer Price Index (PPI).
The Revenue Agency (GİB) announced that the six-month producer inflation rate was 19.49% and that the special excise tax amount was updated. According to the update, the SCT amount for one pack of cigarettes increased by 6.49 TL from 33.3 TL to 39.5 TL, for beer it increased by 1.51 TL from 7.78 TL to 8.29 TL, for wine it increased by 7.45 TL from 38.24 TL to 45.69 TL, and for spirits it increased by 2.06 TL per liter of alcoholic content to 12.69 TL.
Many cigarette companies announced that they had abandoned the 10 lira increase and decided to cut the price instead, as the increase in the Special Consumption Tax (SCT), which affects cigarette prices, was smaller than expected.
The cheapest cigarettes are reduced to 61TL
Following the TL 10 increase in cigarette prices, JTİ Group has now made a TL 6 discount. In this context, the most expensive cigarette was 145 TL and the cheapest was 61 TL.
