Seattle Mariners young right-hander Brian Woo added to a special group in franchise history with another dominant performance on Friday night.

Considering Randy Johnson is one of the best pitchers in baseball history and a Hall of Famer on the team, it’s surprising to see Wu mentioned alongside him. It’s also notable that fellow Hall of Famer Felix Hernandez never managed to achieve this.
Wu was called to a no-decision against the Los Angeles Angels on Friday despite pitching six scoreless innings. He allowed three hits, no walks and struck out two. He is 2-0 this season with a 1.30 ERA. He was removed after just 66 pitches due to a reported “arm issue” earlier this week. The team is committed to keeping Wu healthy after he missed games earlier this season (and last year) with elbow inflammation.
Wu showed off his good sinker again Friday night, and it has become his primary pitch.
The Mariners defeated the Angels, 5-4, to improve to 32-27. The teams will meet again on Saturday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 4:15 pm PST, and the game will be broadcast nationally on FOX.
The Mariners’ starting pitcher is Miller, who is 4-5 this season with a 3.48 ERA. Their opponent is left-handed pitcher Reid Detmers, who is 3-5 with a 5.76 ERA for the Harrisons.
