Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert reached some major career milestones this week, earning his first career All-Star selection on Sunday, and adding another milestone to his list of accomplishments on Tuesday.
Gilbert struck out seven batters in Tuesday’s 8-3 win over the San Diego Padres, bringing his total to 606 in 107 career games.
According to a tweet from StatsCentre, Gilbert achieved this milestone in the fifth-fewest games played in Mariners history.
Logan Gilbert, who will start tonight against the Padres, has 599 strikeouts in his MLB career and is just one away from reaching 600 as a member of the team. @Mariners In doing so, he would become the fifth-fastest pitcher on this list of notable franchise pitchers. pic.twitter.com/aOSf3LbWxa

With this latest career record, Gilbert joins an elite group of pitchers. The pitchers who finished above him on the list are James Paxton, Randy Johnson, Mark Langston and Felix Hernandez. All pitchers above Gilbert, except for Langston, have thrown a no-hitter for Seattle. Hernandez threw a perfect game on August 15, 2012. Johnson was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2015. Hernandez is inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame in 2023.
Gilbert is 6-5 with a 2.94 ERA in 19 starts this season, striking out 115 batters in 125.1 innings pitched.
Since his debut, he has a career ERA of 3.59.
Gilbert has been with Seattle since being selected in the first round of the draft in 2018 out of Stetson University.
