Though he has yet to play in an official game, Ladd McConkey is already making NFL history.
Heading into the 2024 NFL Draft, Ladd McConkey was a name that caught the attention of many NFL coaches and analysts. The wide receiver’s agile route running and explosiveness after the catch had him listed as a potential first-round draft pick by many. Unfortunately, McConkey was selected just two spots below the first round, at 34th overall.
But McConkey is certainly being paid that way despite not being selected in the first round: Per Ian Rapoport, McConkey signed a rookie contract with the Los Angeles Chargers this week that was the highest guaranteed money of any player selected 34th overall and surpassed the quarterback premium for the same pick last year.

While McConkey has yet to have a chance to showcase his talents on the field, his work ethic and ability have certainly been recognized by his new team and he is being valued accordingly, and there is no doubt the second-round pick will be a major contributor to his new team going forward.
