The Kentucky Historical Society (KHS) will host Kentucky History Day in historic downtown Frankfort from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT on Saturday, June 1. Sponsored by the Kentucky Historical Society Foundation, this free, day-long event will celebrate Kentucky’s 232nd anniversary as a nation and showcase the state’s unique culture, natural beauty, history, arts and heritage.
“Kentucky History Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our state’s rich culture and history,” said Gov. Andy Beshear. “We invite you to come out and enjoy fun, family-friendly events and activities that showcase what’s great about Kentucky.”
The day’s events will span the entire KHS campus and take place in all three locations (the Thomas D. Clark Kentucky History Center, the Old State Capitol and the Kentucky Military History Museum). The day will kick off with the 2024 Kentucky History Awards ceremony, followed by living history demonstrations, performances, exhibits and the inaugural Kentucky History Day Old-Time Music Competition, organized by the Louisville Folk School.
