The Kentucky Black Agricultural Association is holding a free food distribution on Juneteenth, starting at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Shawnee Park, 4501 West Broadway. Food will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and no reservations will be accepted. Distributions are limited to one per family. Black Soil Kentucky is supporting the Black Agricultural Association in the distribution. The Kentucky Black Agricultural Association says it advocates for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) farmers and farmworkers by building a solid leadership foundation. They serve as an accountability liaison from agricultural agencies and provide education and awareness on equitable economic development to minority landowners. This is done through the USDA and Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s Local Food Purchase Assistance Program.
