The Meteorological Agency released new weather charts and issued a wave of warnings, with heavy rainfall warnings issued for many cities in the Marmara region, including Istanbul.
It snowed in July
Snow fell as a surprise in Erzincan in July. The peaks of the Keshish Mountains, the highest peak in the province at 3,549 meters above sea level, were covered in fresh snow. The intermittent rain in the city turned to snow in the Keshish Mountains. In the morning, the white-stained peaks of the Keshish Mountains were clearly visible from the village of Baylbah in the Üzumlü district of Erzincan.
Drivers on the Erzincan-Erzurum highway pulled over to the side of the road to gaze at the July white peaks. After a while, the cloud-covered peaks could be seen melting with the rising temperatures.
Warning from the Governor of Ankara
“According to the latest data received from the Meteorological Directorate’s Analysis and Forecasting Center, localized strong thunderstorms will occur according to the latest assessments and weather radar data,” a post on the Ankara governor’s social media account said. “As expected, it is necessary to be aware and vigilant of adverse effects such as sudden flooding, inundation, lightning strikes, localized hail and strong winds during rainfall.”

Strong winds in the evening adversely affected life in Tusha. Data shared by the Meteorological Bureau said wind speeds in the area reached 50 kilometers per hour. The roof of Dongsha Science High School was blown off by the strong winds. Pieces of the roof fell on the grounds below the school. No one was injured in the incident, but property damage occurred to homes and vehicles on the street. Power lines were downed due to the strong winds. Many areas in the district lost power. The moment the roof of Dongsha Science High School was blown off by the wind was captured on a mobile phone camera.
The broken cone of the minaret was sharpened on the roof of the garage
