The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) has released the Consumer Price Index (CPI) figures for June.
Therefore, the consumer price inflation rate in June 2024 will be 1.64% compared to the previous month, 24.73% compared to December of the previous year, 71.60% compared to the same month of the previous year, and 65.07% on a 12-month average.
The major category with the smallest increase compared to the same month last year was clothing and shoes at 47.84%, while the major category with the highest year-on-year increase was education at 107.11%.
In terms of major expenditure groups, the major group with the largest decrease in June 2024 compared to the previous month was clothing and footwear, at -0.58%. Meanwhile, the major group with the highest increase in June 2024 compared to the previous month was housing, at 3.79%.
As of June 2024, of the 143 basic headings covered in the index, the indices for 35 basic headings decreased, while the indices for five basic headings remained unchanged. The indices for 103 basic headings increased.
The special composite CPI index (B) was 70.40% for the year and 1.90% for the month.
The CPI percentage change excluding unprocessed food, energy, alcoholic beverages, tobacco and gold is expected to be 1.90% m/m in June 2024, 25.39% m/m in December of last year and 70.40% m/m in June 2024 compared to the previous year and 68.25% m/m in December of last year.
